Have you ever said to yourself, "I'll do it when..." and then fill the blank? The latest one for me has been, "I will clean out the car when it is not so hot." And in my defense it has been HOT. No one will deny me that. However, if you saw the landfill that had become the inside of my car you might feel differently.
In July, our family went to Knott's Berry Farm. I even wrote a post about I had a wagon full of stuff. I did take the wagon out of the van and maybe even those water bottles, but then we went on another little trip. More water bottles filled my van and sand toys and towels and various other things. Soon a cup from a fast food place was added, then a toy or two, ooops who spilled those fries anyway? Is that another water bottle?? Just put that junk mail right there. New shoes! And the old ones are stashed in the back seat. Then school starts and who has time to clean a car when you are carting kids back and forth. Especially when you they go to three different schools. There just is always something going on, and I am a professional procrastinator.
On Friday night despite the heat, I cleaned out my car. No one has noticed--except my husband, but he was busy cleaning out his own car so really it doesn't totally count. I was suprised by two things: I didn't find much and it was mostly trash. I am not sure why that second one surprised me so much. I digress. The car is clean. Diet Coke cans no longer come tumbling out when I open a door. All after about 10 minutes. Who knew??
