The facility, located at 41002 County Center Drive, handles small claims and traffic court cases and is situated within the county's Walt P. Abraham administrative complex.

Court officials did not immediately provide an explanation for the proposed closure, which would take effect no earlier than July 1.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the plan was encouraged to submit an electronic message via the Superior Court website at webassistance@riverside.courts.ca.gov, or send a letter to: Riverside County Superior Court, P.O. Box 1547, Riverside, CA 92502.

All comments must be received by June 11.
