Car Crashes Into Garage of Murrieta Home

No one was injured Wednesday when a car crashed into a Murrieta house, causing extensive damage.

The incident occurred at 12:38 p.m. Wednesday when a Honda Civic driven by a woman left the roadway for unknown reasons and ended up crashing into the garage of a home in the 38500 block of Falkirk Drive.

Several Murrieta police and fire units, as well as American Medical Response responded to the home within minutes.

“We arrived on scene and found a car into the garage with light smoke coming from the garage and from the vehicle,” said Murrieta fire Capt. Evan Tiss.

The driver—who was the sole occupant of the car and may live on the street according to witnesses—was already out of the vehicle by the time fire crews arrived.

Further, it was determined the smoke was coming from the tires, the captain said.

Damaged during the incident were the garage door as well as property within the garage, and a wall that connects to the interior of the home.

“The building department came out and checked the integrity of the building and insurance has been contacted,” Tiss said. “They are taking care of things."

What may have caused the woman to veer off the roadway was still under investigation. Murrieta police could not immediately be reached for comment on that aspect.
