Really Donna? 4 years as a Vice Principal at a major high school in a diverse part of Orange County…Read More and 12 years as a teacher (many administrators don't nearly have this much longevity in the classroom) make for a "thin" resume. Do you have something against Thomas Edison State, a school that at least from Wikipedia appears to be similar to a smaller CSU campus?

How do you know they were not considered? I'm assuming you are referring to assistants or assistant…Read More principals, your spelling makes your comment hard to understand. Please do consider that Eric Mooney rose above them in the interviews. Just because someone has been with the school a long time does not make them the superior candidate.

Mr. Mooney as big shoes to fill! I am confident in MVUSD admin, that they have done a thorough check…Read More to see that he can meet the benchmarks that Renate has set. Welcome to the MVHS family Mr. Mooney!

that's great. but what would of been better is if the painting studio was from the Temecula valley…Read More instead of san diego.

Tracy, I know exactly what you are talking about. It's not enough to just prepare kids to pass a…Read More test. As a parent with a child at Thompson going into the AVID 8th grade program, I know how well she does in school. My issue is that the schools are not preparing kids for opportunities other than college. The test data just measures an achievement scale, but the schools not just in Murrieta but across the country do not have the courses that are driving careers these days. Technology and creativity in different trades is needed and is missing in a lot of schools. I think the amount of money we pay in taxes should include the vocational and technology programs that are missing. The schools are indeed good in my opinion, but as a parent working in the tech sector in the public and private sectors, we are lacking. That information has to start young and cultivate the kids learning power, to expand beyond what is in a text book and on a test. Many things I learned were practical application in high school and enabled me to stay gainfully employed even in the worst recession. Some career fields cannot be exported and certainly don't need college classes work in them. I have sat in both my daughters classes and my son's classes, when he was in high school and I noticed that there is definitely a gaps in the education being taught. It's ok for some to go to college but not everyone is meant to go that route. Those that do not, need to have alternatives taught sooner rather than later

Tracy. You must have been an absent parent. My kids certainly did quite well at Vista Murrieta, Had…Read More a great time learning, are successful growing young adults in good budding careers. There was plenty of 'cultivating creativity' into my kids by the staff. And when a tough day was upon them I certainly had the backing of a good administration with Mr Daniels to help my kids out and keep me informed with their progress.

I put 2 of my kids through Vista Murrieta High. I have wonderful thoughts and memories of the…Read More teachers and the administration. They were always available to help my kids with something minor or major. They really do care. Way to go on your rewards Murrieta Schools ! Congratulations !

Someone must have gotten a heads up on the sweep and spilled the beans, so that day [and that day…Read More only] no one got caught. We have a great police force here in Murrieta but this time i must give them 3 demerits ha ha just kidding could not resist this one.

Well...Neon Trees actually did form in Murrieta, just not as you know them. Tyler and Chris played…Read More as an acoustic duo under the name Neon Trees and even recorded a demo and printed some shirts. After moving to Utah, they added more members and plugged in. Regardless, looking forward to the show.

Ok, Michael, that is great information. I remember this band from when I lived in SLC, and they…Read More were touted as a "homegrown" band there. But of course people move around. This makes sense. I actually gathered more accurate info from your post than the entire article. Thanks for taking the time to share. I am buying tixs. This will be awesome! I love Neon Trees!

For a little more clarification. Although the band did not form in Murrieta, two of their members…Read More grew up in the local community. One attended a Murrieta High School and another attended a Temecula High School. As quoted from Tyler "We’re playing a show in the town i grew up in, because why not?" We have asked for their support to help raise funds for various co-curricular programs at VMHS. The band, their management agency, school officials, and local business partners have all gathered to make this event happen. So although the band may not have been started here, they without a doubt have roots in this community. Furthermore, siblings of the band members have attended Vista Murrieta High School. Please help us spread the word about the concert. We would love to have a crowd of 10,000 fans in Bronco Stadium on June 8th. Tickets go on sale tonight at midnight. www.showclix.com

Every high school in all areas should host one of these mock situations. Students when they get…Read More behind the wheel, even some from excellent families, get carried away with trying to impress peers, and make bad decisions as a driver, and cause sometimes fatal accidents. They let themselves get distracted. My heart sunk when I saw my beautiful granddaughter play the fatal victim, going through the windshield. I pray it made an everlasting impression on her so she will always be a very responsible and careful driver. Victim's Grandmother

This is such an important program. I took a part in it at Chaparral in 2009 as one of the…Read More "Walking Dead". It was the most touching program of my entire life and to this day it has made a huge impact on my life.
For all of the students at Murrieta Valley who have participated in it today, it will become one of most touching programs you will ever participate in. It will leave a lasting impression on you for years to come. It did for me and I am truly thankful for that opportunity.
Thank you Temecula and Murrieta for putting this program on for students to take part in and to give opportunities to the entire schools to learn the dangers of drinking and driving.

For what it's worth, the article does say it's for kids in 7th-10th grades. Though I agree, I…Read More changed my mind so many times about what I wanted to do with my life, and didn't land on a career field until I was a senior in high school -- many people change their minds well into college. (And I still don't even work in my degree field!)

Don't you all realize that this is grant funding from Kaiser Permanente? Sarcasm.....why not spend…Read More $3M on this when you are able to NOT provide proper care or treatment to your existing cancer patients or patients with other needs without a fight? And, no worries on who they provide program to because aren't almost ALL youth of today socioeconomically challenged? I know my own kids are and they don't even know it! To Kaiser Permanante: use the $3M to provide free and/or proper medical care/treatment to the socioeconomically disadvantaged population, not for pie in the sky unsustainable youth programs that will be cut due to budget constraints in the next year! And don't even let Jerry Brown tell us to vote to raise our taxes or he'll cut this educational program too.....come on, laugh with me people!
