some rabid tweeker needs to detox in a desert work camp. Tents are cheap. 3 years at labor will do…Read More the trick, and that unpaid labor can build a permanent prison cheaply far from Murrieta.
Problem solved.

Did the bad guy have a dog that looked like a police dog? He must have, because the cop got bit by…Read More that dog.

I don't know, Dave. Grape Nuts are a pretty big story in my book. Wild fire? Meh.......
Dave Peters May 14, 2013 at 09:56 pm
Not a fan of the new lay out when an advertisement for Grape Nuts covers the first 4 articles so you…Read More can't see them.

5 years? Are you kidding me?? One of those "moderate" injuries was my daughter, a mother…Read More of 4, on the "pleasant " outing to California from Las Vegas. She is suffering still from neck back and arm pain-and of course, without her car which was totaled. 5 years? She probably will always have chronic pain and they are talking major neck surgery. I am thoroughly disgusted. He STOLE a friggin semi hit many cars causing permanent pain to how many people. Tough on crime? NOT!!

Ken your so perfect. Accidents happen , we're only human. In the heat of the moment who knows what…Read More you would've done. Have you ever made a bad judgement call?? Keep your ignorance to yourself. My prayers go out to the family & frenz who lost this hardworking man. Myself & my co. Flatiron Construction know what it's like to be out there on the field. I'm a carpenterforeman who works with these iron workers . It takes a certain kind of man to do what we do. Please respect that.
Ken Mayes May 14, 2013 at 10:39 pm
Some of you'all are pretty pissed at me, so be. This death occurred because of a preventable…Read More incident and not an accident. An "accident" implies that nothing could have been done to prevent the "incident" from occurring. Had a few simple rules been followed this man would not have died and would be with his family today.
Stephanie Johnson May 16, 2013 at 01:50 pm
Ken, Before you shoot your opinion on a public board maybe you should get your facts straight! Why…Read More don't you post your Parents phone number so I can call them and tell them what an Ignorant, Racist son they raised! Who are you to judge? I happen to know this family and they are very well educated and love their children very much. It was a tragic accident and no parent should have to go thru this. If you wearn't there and don't know the truth to the fact about this tragic incident you should just keep your negative comments to yourself and worry about your own life!
Ken May 15, 2013 at 01:40 pm
Yes this is so sad but where were the parents when this child was out in the street unattended? I…Read More see this so many times it makes me sick. Parents not doing their job of protecting their child from harm. I see women walking down the street busy yakking on their cell phone and their little ones running all over the street. The other sad thing is california law says if you kill a chid with a vehicle under the age of 5 you are automatically charged with negligent homicide regardless if the child was left unattended roaming the streets. I had a Mexican neighbor several years ago that would let he 2 year old walk down the middle of the street unattended. The kid could hardly walk and would fall down and lay in the street crying while the mother would keep walking up the street. On sveral occassions I had to rush out in the street and block traffic from running over the little one. The moher would just laugh and mumble something in spanish and pretend she didn't understand what I was saying to her till one day While standing guard over the child and the mother was walking back the 2 blocks to were the child was laying and crying and this time I told her if she does that again I would call the POLICIA on her. She understood that and that stupid grin came off her face immediately.

Are they going to press charges on the mother... This makes me so mad.
SA May 13, 2013 at 02:26 pm
It is sad that we have to live this way. I just finished Dr. Ben Carson’s book “America…Read More the Beautiful” … It was well written and he states “The first pinnacle nations to face a decline … Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome, Great Britain, France and Spain all enjoyed their time at the of the world…Then they began to decline” … This is what I see happening here due to crazy people…

Julio was one of he greatest people i ever had the pleasure to know. i love him so much. he has been…Read More the only guy to never once make me feel uncomfortable. he taught me how to find myself and he took great care of me. without him, i'd still be in the depressed slump causing harm to myself. he showed me how important it was for me to appreciate life. because he knew he didnt have much longer to live. he told me that if he ever went back to jail, he'd make sure he died because he didn't want to spend his last days in a holding cell. now i hope that helps with anything. i feel like julio is a smart enough man to find out his charges before he instigated such outcomes... and im sure he would have made sure bail was absolutely not an option. i do know he was in a lot of pain he hid every day. i was lucky enough to spend most of this past month with him because he used my home as a get away because it was peaceful and he could actually rest there. i do know that he missed doses from time to time because i was always on his ass reminding him to take it but he had always left it someplace... if he hadn't taken his medicine that day it would've been three days he had gone without his medicine. if he had, then i truely believe someone else hurt him. his life was finally turning around and he was finally becoming happy. i honestly feel he never meant to die. i honestly believe he died for injust reasons and i pray you can get to the bottom of it. i hope this helps.
Don't worry about it May 13, 2013 at 04:37 pm
Angelica, julio was a great person he called me on Tuesday to go down to the lake but I was in class…Read More and couldn't make it... My prayers go out to the family...

Why on earth was a motorcyclist on that trail? There are so many blind spots as it is.
Michael McChesney May 13, 2013 at 12:22 pm
Slammed into motorcyclist? Trails are off limits to motorcycles. I can only imagine the horror of…Read More turning a corner on the down hill side of Stevenson trail and running into a motorcyclist. I hope everyone recovers soon.

50wyf,
I am sorry for suggesting "your friend" is a nurse, as it did not specify one way…Read More or the other in the article. I am sure it must make a big difference in this case.
As I do not know Mr. Bennett I cannot respond one way or the other to him being off the deep end or refusing to man up for his actions.
I see from the article that he recieved disaplinary action from the Murrieta Police which led to his termination, for stalking. That the Murrieta Police are attempting to get the DA to file Felony Stalking charges.
I have expressed only that IF he deserved/guilty of these charges, they are valid, he did commit Felony Stalking, that it is a shame with the career that he has had.
I think you can see that most of us feel the same.
50wyf May 13, 2013 at 06:12 am
Brenda,
Nowhere does it say that Mr. Bennett's former girlfriend is a nurse. Lets not get caught up…Read More in adding our own snipits of false information. I personally and unfortunately know Mr. Bennett and have to say that he has completely gone off of the deep end and refuses to man up and take responsibility for his actions. Mr. Bennett's former girlfriend works for the hospital in a non medical aspect.
Steve Newman May 9, 2013 at 04:42 pm
No this guy doesn't look like the pillsbury doughboy, nor is he blackened. He is a stalker and the…Read More only threat he poses is to himself and his former girlfriend. If confronted he will turn and run. But he does need help, but unless his problems can be tied specifically to MPD, they have no liability, but perhaps a responsibility to get this guy out of public view.
Christine May 9, 2013 at 01:14 pm
This guy sounds dangerous. Hopefully he won't have a chance to hurt anyone...
Donna Reid May 10, 2013 at 04:01 pm
I, too, thank you Mrs. Hintergardt for your incredible sacrifice. Every time I see one of our local…Read More officers I wave and smile because I worry that perhaps they don't know just how much their service is appreciated. The risk they take every day in order to protect us is so cherished and rare. Your husband is a hero, and I and my family thank you for honoring him so beautifully. We wish you and your daughters much love and peace. We join the community in sincere sorrow for your loss.
DeMarie Rossi May 10, 2013 at 02:40 am
Thank you Mrs. Hintergardt for your sacrifice - as a resident of Murrieta I appreciate the…Read More dedication of the officers and their families to the safety of our families. We take our law enforcement for granted, but it is because of each and every one of them that we can safely live in our homes. I am so very sorry for your loss.

GREAT WORK BY DIANA SERAFIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She weather attack after attack to do what was…Read More right and, at day's end the people of Murrieta stood with her to end this debacle.
This is OUR government people. WE all do not need to stand tall, as Diana did, but we all do need to STAND UP!

ATS American Traffic Solutions? they are not the solution, they are the problem.
Brenda May 8, 2013 at 03:58 am
I do NOT understand why ANYONE would read this article and instead of wanting to help do something…Read More about the problems we have in our town with running red lights, stop signs and traffic incidents killing or severely injuring people you are tearing apart ONE WORD, PATIENT, for Godsake. Anyone reading the article knows what the author means so why act so stupid? Then waste time to spell, diction check instead of responding to the wreck, the injuries of these women?
I call that pretty wierd and certainly uncaring.
If you want to edit something try the websters dictionary that might keep you busy for a very long time. :)
Jeffrey Hamaker May 8, 2013 at 03:46 am
MMM-Okay. Fair enough! Just seems like you're more into bustin' out the razor blade and splittin'…Read More hairs than being appreciative. Maybe you could use your experience to make this better then, yeah?
Brenda May 8, 2013 at 03:41 am
Happens all the time jb :/ As if 45mph is not fast enough right?
I think we do as citizens need…Read More to start taking our video camera's with us in the car and video tape what we can and post them here.
Or even stand on a corner of like Winchester/Margarita and all the other corners that are problems in our town and video tape constantly with license plates blocked out but the tapes given to the City and police in their entirety.
Maybe our City officials do not really realize how bad it is out there?? Do they read the "Patch"? Hmmm.
Run Lizzy May 6, 2013 at 02:51 pm
I passed by right when it happen... Looked pretty bad. I hope everyone is ok
Serious Sam May 7, 2013 at 12:19 am
Yes, in this case it is obviously violations of probation. The large number of little baggies,…Read More including ecstacy and cocaine and marijuana give it away.
HOWEVER
It is to be noted that in some cities and counties in California the personal possession "free limit" is three pounds (versus a half pound) of medical marijuana for all qualified MMJ patients. This is true EVEN if on probation UNLESS the terms of probation expressly forbid it. An appellate court made that ruling, but some police and some public defenders did not know that and stuck some innocent persons back into jail.
I heard somewhere the newer probation forms may have a line item for this with a check box for medical marijuana is allowed or not allowed.
Serious Sam May 6, 2013 at 11:54 pm
I think this is correct. There is a check box on the form for waving 4th amendment rights. Depending…Read More on negotiations for a plea bargain and probation terms agreed to sometimes this box is NOT checked. This means NO 4th waiver.
(It is probably checked in most cases.)
Steve Newman May 6, 2013 at 01:29 pm
Maybe he will get the winning numbers- will help with his bail-looks hispanic, but what do we call…Read More him now to remain PC. Might wan to check for a little inside help- he just waltzed out like he owned the place-interesting.

Alec Hidell May 4, 2013 at 04:11 pm
hope you have figured out how to keep those "two big dogs" quiet. Most homes here have…Read More tiny yards.
To be inconsiderate towards your neighbors makes you as bad as the burglars.
sandalina May 2, 2013 at 04:42 pm
I hear ya Brenda. The three that broke into my house in 2008--at 4:45 in the afternoon--all hailed…Read More from Moreno Valley. They admitted to detectives that they were looking for items to pawn, so that they could 'buy a bag of weed'. Two of them rec'd 1 year in jail plus 5 years probation. The third skipped his $250,000 bail, that his family posted for him, and headed to Mexico.
Two big dogs plus a monitored security system, and other security measures are in place. It's always good to be, and have, nosy neighbors who will act when they see anything out of the ordinary.

Brenda,
I wondered the same thing, but that information was not immediately available. Will let…Read More you know if I obtain that info.

We hope that the city approves the resolution to completely conclude the red light camera program…Read More and direct ATS to dismantle and remove the equipment.
Two more actions would help to prevent any future issues with ticket cameras.
The city could add from 0.7 to 1.0 seconds to the yellow intervals for a likely reduction in violations of at least 60% and perhaps as much as 90%. This would make it very clear that the cameras are not as effective in preventing straight through violations as correct engineering.
The Council could pass a resolution that any future use of ticket cameras would require a positive vote of the electorate before the request for proposals process could even start.
James C. Walker, Life Member-National Motorists Association
James C. Walker May 7, 2013 at 11:50 am
For Paul W.: The problem with setting adequately long yellow intervals for the actual approach…Read More speeds and not monitoring for right turn infractions is that the expensive cameras would lose SO much money that no city would use them.
If cameras and traffic lights were engineered to cite ONLY dangerous drivers, the entire red light camera industry would go bankrupt. There ARE some dangerous drivers that deserve red light citations - but they are far too few to even pay the basic camera costs, let alone produce the profits the camera companies and the cities demand from camera systems.
James C. Walker, Life Member-National Motorists Association
James C. Walker May 7, 2013 at 11:45 am
For Ed: The cameras were never intended to be fair, or even related closely to safety. The cameras…Read More were used for revenue, and were very effective for that purpose.
In almost every case, fewer violations and greater safety can be achieved with better engineering - without the massive economic loss to the community by sending so much money to Sacramento and Arizona.
