Brennen is pictured his with his baby sister in this family photo shared with Murrieta Patch.
Betty Faith March 6, 2014 at 09:20 am
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support Brennen's dad and myself are really grateful to allRead More of you. We ask you continue to pray for our family as well as for the driver who was involved in the incident we can't even imagine what she is going through. According to unofficial reports she wasn't speeding and she wasn't texting it was all just an unfortunate accident. Finding blame will not bring our son back. He is now an angel in heaven feeling no pain and no more suffering watching down on us. Again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Betty Faith.......You,your family & the young driver are ABSOLUTELY in our thoughts and prayers.Read More I'm so glad you have forgiveness and empathy for the driver. I think you will help eachother heal with that kind of attitude!! I wish your family didn't have to go through this, I am so sorry! Again, he looks like he was a wonderful boy! My heart goes out to you all. God Bless!

Randolf Aragon March 23, 2014 at 02:02 pm
The problem with big truck "so-called accidents" is that they make right turns withoutRead More stopping on RED first (free rights on Red). I was nearly nailed while making a U Turn ON GREEN on Madison and this big truck made a "so-called Free Right on Red" on Madison without stopping on Red first and nearly hit me. The so-called "accident" with fatality a couple of weeks ago on Madison and Murrieta Hot Springs was probably a result of that truck making a so-called "Free Right Turn on Red" without first stopping at the RED LIGHT FACING THEM!
all-c-ing-eye March 23, 2014 at 02:33 pm
Randolph Aragon: Your right a lot of them dont come to a complete halt, as stopping a big rig orRead More truck, them moving out again is work. Im not defending them but a little room is something you got to give them under the circumstances. If you go into most cities across America its all the same not just on the corner you mention, its everywhere and one of those things you got to live with [if you want to live]. You cant have a policeman on every corner on every st. so if you value your life [im sure you do] extra caution must be taken by pedestrians. Listening to tunes on your i pod and being in another world with your ears covered up is irresponsible in todays world. I have been in Europe and in some countries they drive on the sidewalks [no kidding] and people take it in stride as they are aware of it. Be careful, stay alive. Thank You.
Joe Rubalcava March 23, 2014 at 07:27 pm
Randol Aragon I'm sure you have never seen a car do what your assuming the truck driver did . We'reRead More you at that accident ? And I bet you have never heard of a calif. Stop and I bet you are such a perfect driver and have never make any driving in fraction. And I bet you have never seen any cars making left turns and when the light turns red they just keep on Turing on the red light. And I bet you have never gone faster than the speed limit. It's not illegal to make a right turn on a redlight, unless posted even if a car makes a u turn. How do you let a car making a right turn even on a red light that you are going to make a u turn, you can't can you.
Hall of Famer and former Mets announcer Ralph Kiner throws waves to the fans prior to throwing out the ceremonial first pitch during the Mets' Home Opener at Citi Field on April 8, 2011. Photo credit: Getty

As a baseball fan, I knew of Kiner's feats. He lead the league in HRs seven years in a row. I thinkRead More I heard a few broadcasts of his when I was in my early teens... I think it was him that was doing the NLCS when it was the Dodgers and Phillies (I recorded it on tape... I bet that thing doesn't work anymore). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Still, as nice as it is to see this story... it's been on the front page of the Patch for two days now and it isn't even a local story. Safe to say that whatever reach Patch had as a local news source has seen better days... and that's no slight at Renee Schiavone. I imagine she's just playing the cards that were dealt to her.
Jeff Kleiner February 7, 2014 at 10:51 am
Ralph Kiner was also a great broadcaster. I enjoyed his voice many times. Any athlete leading theRead More league in Home runs for seven years is very impressive and dominate......Ralph will be missed all over baseball.

After reading about Mikey, I was compelled to write. When tragedies like this happen, we all findRead More ourselves asking, why did this happen? Why do we suffer? In answer to these questions, we are personally invited by our loving heavenly father to look to him and his word, the Bible for answers. We do have much hope for the future. Rev. 21:1-4 tell us that the time will come when we will no more fear death or endure pain. God will soon wipe these out forever. He also promises to bring back those that have already fallen asleep in death. This promise of a resurrection, gives us a wonderful hope for the future. I know this is a difficult time for you and your family. But please draw comfort from your wonderful memories of Mikey and the comfort the God's word gives us. For more comforting thoughts go to www.jw.org.
Dee January 31, 2014 at 05:13 am
Please don't go to jw.org. Jehovah witnesses do not believe the deity of Jesus Christ. If youRead More don't believe in Jesus Christ you do not believe in God. They follow a false doctrine. They are a cult. They deny a literal hell, which is what satan wants you to believe. You have comforting words for this family, but unfortunately jw are seriously deceived.

Dee and Lightload, beautifully said. What a family this young man has who let him see the sunshineRead More each day.

I concur, respects to the family. I realize that even with life insurance, the wife would need atRead More least $500,000 to survive, especially a homemaker.

wow belle. you sure got my attention..but bikers are still illogical. The gas mileage is worse thanRead More cars. its ten times more dangerous, you get bugs in your teeth, you freeze your ass off, you are the lowest rung on the road, facing instant death at any moment. All this for "freedom" or "the wind in your face"...what the hell are you talking about? such a stupid cliche. The fact is you are all posers looking for attention. That's fine if you are some biker thug, but not when you are the sole provider to a young family--how very thoughtless.
Marine Corps pilot Jerry Coleman.
Joe Meyers January 7, 2014 at 07:40 am
For us long suffering Padres fans, Jerry was always a beacon of light that took us through the manyRead More lows and the less frequent highs. No disrespect to Tony Gwynn but Jerry will always be Mr. Padre.

in addition to being what everyone says he was.. and more..jerry coleman was without question one ofRead More the nicest people ever to walk this planet..i know most conservatives can't stand keith olbermann, but go online and watch the obituary he did on jerry..it's amazing..doug

I missed this news when it first happened. How sad. I've always enjoyed Jerry Coleman's work.

Dear Mayor Gibbs and Family, My prayers are with you. I'm so glad that you were able to walk herRead More down and pray your beloved bride back into the arms of Jesus. Your her true hero and mine too! She was a beautiful person and she will be greatly missed. However, knowing that she is at her final destination in the arms of Jesus may she rest in peace. God Bless her and may Leslie so beautiful, gracious, and a innocent young life Rest in Peace. AndRead More that her husband is wrapped in the arms of family and friends to keep him going, and getting through this devastating time :/ This is far to young to be taken from this earth.
Nancy December 9, 2013 at 02:23 pm
We do not understand here on earth why this happens at such a young age; You can see, however, DearRead More Father God, the whole picture and why, so we continue to always trust and rest in Your perfection because You SEE THE WHOLE THING AND ALL OF THE REASONS that we cannot see and know right now. Thank You for seeing and knowing all and for caring for every one of us and I trust You will all of my heart because You truly are good. Prayers and strength to all of the family and friends of Leslie; God will comfort and be near to all of those who ask.

He was a close friend of my family and my self for 4 years. we always looked forward to seeing himRead More come up our drive way to just say hello and give my son some good advice. His friendship meant the world to me. Best sense of humor ever. There is No deputy like him he made a difference. Valley Center will miss his smile and hellos. "Honey Badger Dont Care" lol this was his phone signature. always had something to funny to show me. the thought that we will not see him come up the drive way again or hear his laugh and jokes hurts us. I can only imagine what his family is going through. my heart goes out to them. His Children were his pride and joy always told us about them and had pictures to share. I dont see it as a good bye but a simple see you soon friend.

Mike and I were the best of friends in jr high and high school. I still remember playing pool in hisRead More backyard and hitting balls in the front yard. I had heard of his father passing a couple of years ago and was just as sad to hear of his passing today. RIP my old friend.
Pastor Chuck Smith (Photo: http://calvarychapelassociation.com)
Don Lambert October 3, 2013 at 05:54 pm
CHUCK SMITH, FOUNDER OF CALVARY CHAPEL, HAS PASSED ON. I often heard Pastor Chuck on the radio, IRead More liked his voice and teaching. He came from such a humble start as a pastor teacher starting a tiny new church from a bible study after leaving a larger church. In my opinion he was teaching the basic Christian message that is taught in many other protestant churches. My own background is in somewhat conservative Baptist, Presbyterian, Assembly of God, Congregational churches, and some large independent interdenominational churches, and everything I heard Chuck Smith teach over the radio was similar to the core beliefs I observed in these other churches. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is certain Chuck Smith was not planning to start a new denomination, but the Lord put him in the right place at the right time to bring about much good. I think he credits a lot to the encouragement of his wife in recognizing and encouraging him in getting involved with the Jesus movement with the surfer and hippie crowd. Any way he had a great meaningful life. ........ His leadership and ministry has helped a great many persons and young pastors. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His lessons of bible teaching applied to our daily lives will surely continue to be broadcast on the Calvary Chapel radio station at 107.9 FM and another one that is a local Murrieta area radio station station. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Their station on Sundays is broadcasting the recorded messages of some well known bible teachers from back in the 1940's and onward that I have heard through the years. I am mentioning that here so persons unfamiliar with Chuck Smith should not think he has started some kind of new cult. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chuck Smith applied basic core authentic (protestant) Christianity, similar the core teachings and principles of various the other denominations and independent churches I have been blessed to attend through the years. One thing that happened was they had a lot of young men, hippies and otherwise, become converts that had often not lived a good life style prior to conversion but have since become very good pastor-teachers. But if in a more mainline church denomination they might have a problem being accepted as a pastor-teacher.
Lynda StarWriter October 3, 2013 at 07:26 pm
Pastor Smith provided whole, casual, easy-to-understand, Biblically-sound, life-changing ministries,Read More sermons and teachings, deferring always to God and to Christ and to the Word. Blessings and peace to his family, for the man of God is a legacy.

AWE I will miss him. Praise God for his ministry. Because of his ministry, we will be able to tuneRead More into his messages! I'm praying for his families comfort. Thank you Pastor Smith for all you did for all of us.
Deputy Michael McFarlan (Screenshot: http://www.murrietavalleyfuneralhome.com))
Justice For All October 3, 2013 at 10:09 pm
@Alek -- Despite what a lot of people may think, police work carries immeasurable stresses that takeRead More a toll on even the most fit of officers. Statistically, cops die much younger than most other professions due to the stresses of the job. An unfortunate occupational hazard. For most, it is the body that gives out first. For some, it is mental suffering that compels them to take their own life. When Deputy McFarlan died at age 48 with no cause given, I surmised the worst. It is bittersweet to learn that this was not the case for him, but tragic nonetheless.
Steve Newman October 4, 2013 at 01:42 pm
Bruce- just ignore Alek- this is the only attention he gets, so he just throws shit out and seesRead More what it brings. Keep in mind he did teach freshmen in high school in the Bay area.
Andrea Smith October 16, 2013 at 11:57 pm
Why are people so hurtful and rude with their comments. I guess it's just because they must not loveRead More themselves so it's impossible to love anyone. Mike was a true hero, he will be missed. I do thank God that God took him home in an instant that means he was definitely heaven bound. I'm truly sorry for his family and their loss. My prayers go out to his beautiful family. We thank you for sharing him with our community he was a huge asset. Mike rest in peace big guy we know your smiling down from heaven.
