Flatiron Construction is a private company. They did bid and won. They barely broke ground on itRead More "a year ago." People develop very unrealistic expectations for how long these jobs take. 1. First RIP to this man with cancer. Horrible way to die, but he still had family and friends whoRead More cared about him and would until the end. Many of my friends have died and had family with them until their last breath, reading others messages of love to them. 2. Suicide is the most selfish act especially when you leave behind family and friends who have to DEAL WITH THAT. IF he wanted to die that bad he could easily have enough medications in his home to have overdosed. EASILY. 3. Shooting by police is the most atrocious act a person can commit to a police officer who SAVES LIVES and do not take them unless they are DRAWN ON FIRST. Once he drew is gun, BB or otherwise that look just like real guns, his death sentence was written and that is to his son who also believes it was not right they shot and killed his father. Well, it was also not right that your father did not spend every single possible moment of his life with YOU and his loved ones honey. 4. To everyone who called the police and I am sure told all different stories did ANYONE TELL the police THAT HE SUGGESTED he would die by the COPS?? Tell them that no one else was in the house, he was sitting in the garage, and to come through maybe the back door, or front door where he could not see them, and grab him from behind while one officer tried to keep him busy? Of course not. Now when you give pertinent helpful information it can drastically change the outcome of an officer rolling up to a call. If someone says, he is in the garage and he has a weapon, that pretty much sets up how its going to end right? 5. Why did anyone call the police in the first place? Was he shooting his BB gun? Or calling and telling everyone he was suicidal? Was this all relayed to the police in a coherant manner by ONE PERSON< not 5, all rattling off with the contents of that rattling going into a type written communication and voice commmunication? Cause those officers probably got spewed 5 different stories. It is terribly sad for his family and it all could have been prevented by maybe even his mother. If she had walked over there, or a neighbor. All these people who knew he just had a BB gun right? I know if he was my son, or my neighbor I would have just walked on over right? Why didnt anyone do that who he was making phone calls to all day?? He was crying out for help all that time. :/

Stone opposes and will work to repeal ObamaCare, according to his web siteRead More http://www.jeffstone2014.com/issues/. If Stone believes in the free market and that government should stay out of health care, why does the County not walk the talk and get out of the health care business? County Supervisor's Jumping on the Band Wagon... Let the record reflect that I was the firstRead More civilian to endorse Mike Hestrin Publicly in Riverside County...I am Kind of proud of that! A few weeks later Zellerbach showed his appreciation and I was charged with multiple felonies he created literally out of thin air. It took a few months for my case to wind it's way through the court system. In the end, THREE separate judges ruled "NO CRIME WAS COMMITTED! ALL charges have been dismissed. I as Chairman of The Riverside County Leadership Forum, Zellerbach must have felt that my support for Mike Hestrin, his opponent might perhaps be the beginning of his undoing. When I sent out a memo to campaign donors that I was going to be supporting Mike Hestrin and that I suggested they wait to start writing checks to Zellerbach's campaign until they were able to meet Mike and get a better understanding of him, that they might also decide he was the better of the two candidates. A few days after that email went out, Zellerbach was forced to cancel a fundraiser due to lack of interest. Less than a week later, I received a letter from the DA telling me to turn myself in to the court and answer to Felony Death Threats and Stalking charges, ALL of my firearms have been confiscated by Zellerbachs orders and I am still to this day left defenseless in my very own home because of Paul Zellerbachs abuse of his authority. @Concerned Person -- Police work consists of two speeds, slow and terrifying.Read More ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When time is on the cops side, they may have the luxury of falling back, developing tactics, deploying SWAT or specially trained crisis negotiators. Unfortunately, the suspect almost always drives the pace of events. And, I would surmise from the information provided, that the conditions at the scene unfolded very rapidly, giving little chance for officers to negotiate with this person. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's a tragedy, but this guy had already chosen his path long before the cops ever arrived. Even if the officers had known in advance that he intended to draw fire upon himself, there wouldn't have been any change in the outcome. The victim forced the officers to take the action that they did. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You need to accept that these are the FACTS and there are going to be certain circumstances that are simply beyond the control of anyone. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No amount of additional police training could have altered the situation. Society is filled with the mentally ill and cops engage them practically on a daily basis. Unfortunately, some will cross the line and threaten the safety of others. On those occasions they will often die. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You should also check your facts about the level of special training that officers receive for dealing with the mentally ill. The California DOJ sets training standards for all police in the state. Most officers receive up to 80 hours of training in the academy, and an additional 120 hours of active training in dealing with the mentally ill.

Why do I have a problem with the Gates foundation? I think I said it before. They funded theRead More organizations that wrote the standards. They funded the organizations that reviewed the standards. They fuinded every group that supposedly had "input" into the development of the standards. There is NO record of what the "input" consisted of, or if any of it was implemented. All we really have on record is the Content advisor for Mathematics, Jim Milgrim, prof. at Stanford, explaining why he refused to endorse the math standard. We have the English Language content advisor, Sandra Slotsky, explaining why she, likewise, could not sign off on the standards. And she explains that she has sat on many such committees before, in her role in developing Massachussetts very well-respected standards, and she said that this is the first time she was required to sign a non-disclosure. She said such committees are usually subject to "Sunshine" laws. These are specific people, highly qualified people, giving specific and detailed testimony. But you would rather keep pointing to the CC website vaguely referring to "how educators were involved".
Jennifer April 24, 2014 at 06:39 am
I looked at the Wisconsin link you provided, and it gave a list of teachers on an ELA standardsRead More leadership team. This was out of context, and undated, so I dont really have an indication that it had anything to do with reviewing the CC standards, but assuming you just didn't copy enough pages into the link.....thay could list every teacher in America, by name, school, and department. If there are no records of what, if any recommendations were made, leading to what if any changes to the standards, I dont really see what that would prove. And since, as I have said, teachers and administrators at the local level are presumably under a gag order - if their states have signed agreements similar to NY - I don't know how we can be expected to trust anything about the CC. As I have said, I have several friends from college and HS who have been teaching for 25 + yrs, and my sister-in-law is a Vice Principal at a highly-ranked school in a highly-ranked state - and they all, across the board, HATE the program and what it does to children. And you can read the standards, but you do not have access to the agreements the states have signed, and do not know what other , untried methods of teaching will be mandatory under the Core.
