<p>The U.S. Border Patrol Murrieta Station moved to its new facility on Madison Avenue in 2006. Its roots in the Temecula Valley go back to 1924. As part of the San Diego Sector it is responsible for 3,300 square miles of Southern California, including a checkpoint located two miles south of Temecula.</p>
<p>U.S. Border Patrol is a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Murrieta station, formally named the Theodore L. Newton Jr. and George F. Azrak Border Patrol Station, is home base to more than 138 border patrol agents. It is also home to an active Law Enforcment Explorer Program, for youth ages 14 to 20.</p>
