If Betty Crocker had a home, it may look a lot like The Cake Cottage. Owner Susan Carberry has turned her passion for decorating cakes into a thriving business. The store consists of two spaces: a shop and a classroom. It is filled with all colors of icing and all shapes of cookie cutters, and every cake decorating knick knack imaginable. All are thoughtfully arranged on vintage, shabby chic shelving and bureaus. Next door, the classroom is essentially one large U-shaped table surrounded by mock-ups of incredibly decorated cakes. It is in this space where Carberry and her staff teach locals the art of cake decorating. If students or customers get hungry, the Cake Cottage also sells homemade gourmet cupcakes.
