This Week in Murrieta: City Council to Discuss The Triangle, Medical Marijuana; Warm Weather Continues

Here are five things to know the week of Sept. 2 in Murrieta, Calif.

1. Warm and humid weather will continue in Murrieta this week, according to the National Weather Service. Monday's high was expected to be near 95 degrees, with clouds building up by Tuesday and a chance of thunderstorms and rain Wednesday and Thursday. To view this week's complete forecast, click here.

2. Murrieta City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, One Town Square. Agenda items include a public hearing regarding general and specific plan amendments for The Triangle; a public hearing about a change to the city's municipal code regarding medical marijuana dispensaries, including mobile medical marijuana providers; and a vote about continuing the city's annual Holiday Magic Push Cart Parade but shifting staff efforts slightly to focus more on the Festival of Trees event at Town Square Park. Also during the meeting, outgoing Murrieta police Chief Mike Baray will be recognized with a proclamation for his service.

The City of Murrieta is holding an information session will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall to discuss the application process and procedures for allocating Murrieta’s share of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for fiscal year 2014-2015. Applications are being sought for spending the city's share of a federal grant aimed at providing services to lower income people, and are due at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10. 4. Murrieta Chamber of Commerce's monthly networking mixer will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Bear Creek Golf Club, 22640 Bear Creek Drive North. Make some new contacts or reconnect with others while enjoying food and drinks. There is no charge to attend. Call 951-677-7916 for more information.

5. Waste Management of the Inland Empire reminds residents that curbside residential trash and recycling and commercial pick-up schedule will be delayed by one day throughout the week of Sept. 2, in observance of Labor Day. In addition, all hauling operations, the customer service center, transfer station and landfill will re-open for normal operations on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
