This Week in Murrieta: City Council, Rod Run, Field of Honor & More

Here are five things to know the week of Nov. 4, 2013 in Murrieta, Calif.

1. Murrieta weather is expected to warm up beginning Tuesday with a high temperature of 74 degrees. On Wednesday, it will be around 80 degrees and on Thursday, 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Due to the possibility of strong winds and low humidity levels, a red flag warning is expected to be in effect through 6 p.m. Tuesday.

2. Renovations to the bathrooms at California Oaks Sports Park are among the agenda items Murrieta City Council will take up when it meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 1 Town Square. The meeting will also be streamed live online beginning at 6 p.m., or can be viewed on TV on Verizon Channel 33 or Time Warner Channel 37. Click here to view the complete agenda.

3. There are events for adults and children at the Murrieta Public Library this week. At 4 p.m. Wednesday, bring the whole family for the “Wacko Show.” The event promises magic, comedy and balloon twisting fun. At 2 p.m. on Thursday, adults are invited to a beginning yoga class.

4. The inaugural Murrieta Rod Run begins Friday with a cruise along Washington Avenue between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Residents are invited to bring their lawn chairs and watch as restored classic cars grace Historic Downtown Murrieta. The public is invited to return between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday to get an up close and personal look at the cars, as “every car has a story.”

5. Also this week, the Rotary Club of Murrieta will begin setting up its annual Field of Honor. More than 2,013 American flags will be on display beginning Saturday, Nov. 9 through Saturday Nov. 16 at Town Square Park.
