Jedi Training, Murrieta Mud Run: A Look at the Week Ahead

Here are five things to know the week of Sept. 23 in Murrieta, Calif.

1. With the exception of high temperatures in the 90s on Monday and Tuesday, cooler, fall like  weather was forecast for Murrieta this week. Wednesday and Thursday should bring highs in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service. Overnight lows were forecast in the 50s, with patchy fog possible through mid-mornings.

2. The Murrieta Public Library is offering activities for adults and children this week. At 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, Professional Organizer Nanci McGraw, author of “Get Organized – Now!”, will show how getting things done ultimately increases happiness and well being. For more on that event, click here. Then at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, children 4 to 12 years old are invited to a “Star Wars”-like Jedi Training Academy. For more on that event, click here.

3. The Murrieta Chamber of Commerce is hosting “Coffee With the City” from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24. The event—held at the Chamber, 25125 Madison Ave., Suite 108, Murrieta—is an impromptu question-and-answer session with city officials. It is free to attend; coffee and refreshments are provided.

4. The Murrieta Mud Run is back! It will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 at Town Square Park in Murrieta. This year's Mud Run is being presented by Peers Leaders Uniting Students (P.L.U.S.) and HealthyRaces.com. For more information about the run and to register, visit Murrieta-mudrun.com.

5. The governing board of the Murrieta Valley Unified School District is scheduled to meet in public session at 5 p.m. Thursday at the District Support Center, 41870 McAlby Court, Murrieta. The board will discuss and vote on agenda items including but not limited to: budget appropriations due to reconciliation of Fiscal Year 2012-2013 ending fund balances; a new student information systems technician position; and certification of athletic coaches for the 2013-2014 school year.
