Murrieta needs new Leaders

We need to vote out all incumbent City Council, County Supervisors and Water Board members to send a message.  We have a lot of mismanagement with water and sewers that is not being addressed.

Murrieta is serviced by four different water districts.  RCWD has two different divisions so we have five service areas.

The disparity is vividly clear when you compare assessments on property taxes (ad valorem and standby charges), service charges and sewer bills.  These are fixed costs before drinking a glass of water or flushing a toilet.

Property Tax assessments: RCWD, Santa Rosa Division $413.12/year; RCWD, Rancho Division $205.92/year; WMWD $42.00/year; EMWD $25.00/year and EVMWD nothing.

Service Charges: RCWD, Santa Rosa $33.13/month; RCWD, Rancho $17.98/month; WMWD $27.24/month; EMWD $10.38/month; EVMWD $15.78/month.

Sewer Bills range from $19.42/month to $44.53/month.

Over 8,000 RCWD (Santa Rosa) water customers in Murrieta pay $106.31/month for water/sewers service before drinking a glass of water or flushing a toilet.  By comparison: RCWD, Rancho Division is $61.03/month; WMWD (3,000 customers) is $75.27/month; EMWD is $31.88/month and EVMWD is $29.30/month.

It’s no wonder there was a Riverside County Grand Jury investigation.  A number of problems including director compensation were uncovered however the Grand Jury has no teeth.  The Water District Boards chose to ignore them.

Because of the fixed costs, those who conserve water are subsidizing the high volume users which includes those that waste.
