Do holiday parties that benefit local needy kids interest you?

Wildomar-based Community Outreach Ministry is a non-profit public charity that serves the area's at-risk kids. This year the Ministry is adopting 200-plus needy children for the 13th Annual Angel Tree Christmas Party.

To meet the need of every child, the Ministry will be hosting two parties. The first will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elks Lodge #2591, 33700 Mission Trail in Wildomar. The second party will be held on Saturday, Dec. 21, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Murrieta Public Library, 8 Town Square in Murrieta.

At the party children will interact with firefighters, police, sheriff's deputies, California Highway Patrol officers, border patrol agents and sheriff's Explorers, according to an announcement from the Ministry.

"Each public service group will teach the children the importance of safety. The children will receive Christmas gifts, which are made possible by business sponsors such as Curves, Massage Envy, Wells Fargo, and doctors, dentists, health clinics, and beauty shops," the announcement read.

Middle and high school student volunteers will be on hand "to help make the party fun and entertaining by engaging the children in face painting and with crafts. The community truly gets involved to show these children just how much they are loved and valued," the announcement continued.

"COM is meeting a big need in the lives of children caught in circumstances beyond their control. The goal is to give these youngsters a second chance to be winners and champions. The children are given an opportunity to escape the dangerous road of illiteracy, criminal behavior, self-destruction, and incarceration. They are also given the tools and resources to do better at home and in school. Their expectations are elevated through outreach, camping, and mentoring programs," the announcement read.

Everyone is welcome to join in and help give the gift of joy at this year’s annual Angel Tree Christmas parties. If you would like to sponsor gifts or volunteer, contact COM at 951-698-7650 or info@communityoutreachministry.org. Tax-deductible receipts are provided.
