Murrieta Mud Run Returns Sept. 8

The Murrieta Mud Run returns to Murrieta Sept. 10 at Town Square Park.

Murrieta Mud Run is a 5K run/walk with a “few obstacles” to be held at 9 a.m. Sept. 8 at Town Square Park adjacent to City Hall, 24501 Jefferson Ave. in Murrieta, followed by an After Party of live music, food and vendors until 3 p.m.

Presented by Sports Authority and Sightly, the Murrieta Mud Run isn’t your typical weekend 5K run; it’s more like an episode of Wipe Out with a touch of Halloween minus the candy. Murrieta Mud Run is a unique place where ridiculousness is encouraged! Competitive runners, high school football teammates, office co-workers, Mom’s clubs, police departments and many other groups will dress up in costume and run for their lives across a sludgy field, slippery slopes, mud pits, and obstacles all the way to the finish line, all while trying to keep both shoes on and as little mud in their shorts as possible.

Hard-core runners and non-athletes have found Mud Runs to be the new trend for the challenge of doing something different and fun. It can be as competitive or carefree as the participant wants.
