Elks Name Officer of the Year

Temecula resident Barbara Conner was named 2011-2012 Officer of the Year.

The Temecula Valley Elks Lodge recently named its 2011-2012 Officer of the Year.

Temecula resident Barbara Conner was presented the honor by President Angela Stevanus during an awards dinner, according to a news release.

"Barbara is a very active member and trustee of our lodge," said Robert Farrens, publicity co-chair for Temecula Valley Elks Lodge #2801.

Conner has been active in chairing and working on a number of fund-raising committees for local charities, Farrens said. She serves as chairman of the Drug Awareness Committee and the Dictionary Program, he said.

Of particular note was her work in organizing and distributing more than 2,000 dictionaries to third-graders in Temecula elementary schools, he said.

With a membership evenly divided between Murrieta and Temecula, the Temecula Valley Elks Lodge meets the first, third and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Elks Lodge, 28061 Diaz Road, Temecula.

The Elks Lodge is open Fridays and the second Tuesday of each month for social activities for members and their guests.
