Murrieta City Councilman Alan Long has committed to donating funds for the horses' food supply.

"They had all the in-kind doantions of a saddle and a horse but what they didn't have was  someone to commit for the ongoing food for the horses," Long told Patch.

"This program lets youth experience everything from maintenance to riding to caring for the horses," Long said.

Immediately following the awards ceremony Friday, guests can enjoy a tri-tip barbecue meal served up by Buffalo Bill DeLuna.

There is a $15 per person or $25 per couple charge. Proceeds will go toward the equestrian program.

"Come out and honor those who volunteer their time to the youth in our valley and support a program that will teach our youth responsibility, care and feeding of a horse and the enjoyment of riding," Drew said.

Those who plan on attending should RSVP to 951-587-3900 or email patti@safefamiliesca.org.
