Hot Weather on the Way

Temps in the inland areas were expected to be 5 to 15 degrees above normal starting Sunday, according to a special weather statement issued.

Hot temperatures were expected to hit inland Southern California beginning Sunday, the National Weather Service advised today.

"High pressure will build over the deserts southwest this weekend and early next week...with a warming trend developing across the inland areas," NWS said in a special weather statement.

Temperatures for the inland valleys were forecast to be between 5 and 15 degrees above normal. It was expected to reach from 97 to 103 degrees Sunday through Tuesday, peaking on Monday and Tuesday.

Murrieta's forecast shows 94 on Sunday, 97 Monday and 98 on Tuesday.

The weather service advised drinking plenty of water, staying out of the sun during the hottest part of the day, wearing cool clothing and applying plenty of sunsreen.

Some subtropical moisture could bring thunderstorms to the region, most likely by Wednesday, NWS said.
