Volunteer's Experience
This place is a NON VOLUNTEER FRIENDLY PLACE THANKS TO THREE LADIES WHO WORK HERE!!! the St Thomas Thrift store staff may seem nice to customers.BUT when you actually start volunteering there, do not expect the same happy kind staff. Three workers there, MARNA , MARCIE, AND KAY. DO NOT appreciate the hard work that volunteers do for their store. MARNA for example will simply try to drive the volunteers with so much work and would expect them to get it done quickly. When you don't, she will get pissed off and very rude when you're trying to make their items looks nice. Also she doeskin appreciate things that will help the store sell things at all and also treats volunteers like employees and also disrespect them. Now MARCIE IS NOT FRIENDLY PERIOD. Here's the thing, she dislikes volunteers. She will be rude and disrespectful. also even talk behind your back. I caught her once. MARCIE will even go up to the manager and complain that volunteers aren't doing work when obviously they are putting things back and organizing shelves. MARCIE is even rude to customers. Yeah she can be nice SOMETIMES BUT MOST OF THE TIME shes completely rude to customers and she looses the sale. Which explains why a lot of the things there will not sell. Now KAY IS COMPLETELY RUDE ALSO. SHE DOESN'T LIKE VOLUNTEERS ALSO. KAY will be nice and sweet AT TIMES. BUT when she isn't, she will be rude to volunteers. SHE doesn't really like it when they are talking, and laughing while doing work. Or when volunteers are waiting patiently for someone to move out of the way so they can continue their work, She will Bark at them that they aren't doing anything at all, when clearly the volunteers are waiting patiently for a customer or co-worker to move out of the way. Honestly these three ladies make it HELL to work there. They make it miserable and un-enjoyable. These three ladies are RUDE, DISLIKE VOLUNTEERS, DISRESPECTFUL. When you help the store ACTUALLY LOOK NICE AND ORGANIZED, they throw a fit because it wasn't their way. Their way would make things look cluttered and disorganized. They are so UN-APPRECIATIVE and disrespectful. Not only to volunteers but also to customers. Its only these three ladies. The other workers are friendly and kind and everything to all customers and volunteers. THEY actually make you feel welcomed and make it a fun place to go. Its just the THREE RUDE PEOPLE who make it un fun and a miserable place to go when they are there.
