Special Olympics Come to Murrieta Saturday

Opening ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at Vista Murrieta High School and competition at 10 a.m. There is no admission to attend.

More than 400 athletes are expected to take part in Special Olympics Southern California's Inland Empire Regional Spring Games Saturday in Murrieta.

Athletes will compete for gold, bronze and silver medals in the sports of basketball, swimming, track and field and gymnastics.

Opening ceremonies are set for 9 a.m. at , 28251 Clinton Keith Road.

Competition begins at 10 a.m.

The public is invited to come and cheer on the athletes. There is no admission fee, organizers said.

Seventeen athletes from Murrieta are scheduled to participate.

The May 5 event is Special Olympics Inland Empire Region’s culminating competition for their four spring/summer sports.
