The life of Junior Seau was celebrated Friday at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego amidst family, friends and fans.

Among those in attendance were NFL greats Peyton Manning, LaDainian Tomlinson and John Elway. Tomlinson spoke of looking up to Seau when he first joined the San Diego Chargers.

Seau, 43, a linebacker for the Chargers for 12 years, Police believe he committed suicide.

At the close of the ceremony, Chargers' President Dean Spanos announced the retirement of Seau's No. 55 jersey, after calling Seau's four children to the stage.

The team will formally retire the No. 55 jersey in a halftime ceremony during the Chargers' regular-season home opener against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 16, according to Chargers.com.
