Murrieta Valley High Girls Water Polo Coach Bryan Lynton Named Coach of the Year
Four players from the CIF Champion Nighthawks team are also selected to the All-CIF Division 3 team.
Murrieta Valley High girl’s water polo coach Bryan Lynton, who led the Nighthawks to the CIF Division 3 title this season, has been selected Coach of the Year by CIF-Southern Section.
Four of his players, Melissa Hale, Paige Virgil, Caroline Teets and Megan Guerts, were also among the top 14 players selected to the 2010-2011 All-CIF Division 3 team.
The team, released Monday by the CIF, was selected by the Southern California Water Polo Coaches’ Association.

The Nighthawks captured the CIF Division 3 title with an 8-7 upset victory over top-seeded St. Lucy’s. Virgil, a freshman, scored the final two goals for the victory.
Murrieta Valley’s path to the finals began by winning first place in the Southwestern League. With successive wins against Righetti (18-1), El Rancho (11-2), and Arroyo Grande (11-4), they came to face the Regents for the third and final time of the season.

St. Lucy’s senior standout Emily Donohoe, who is headed to UCLA in the fall, was chosen as the division’s Player of the Year.
