Murrieta Valley Boys, Calvary Murrieta Girls Host Wild Card Games in CIF Soccer Playoffs

Murrieta Valley girls have a first-round game at home Thursday,

The bad news is Murrieta Valley High School’s boys soccer team will need to win a wild-card game to advance to the first round of the CIF Division 2 playoffs. The good news is, the Nighthawks will be playing Wednesday’s 3 PM game at home.

Murrieta Valley, the No. 3 team from the Southwestern League, plays host to Moreno Valley Rancho Verde, an at-large team from the Inland Valley League. The winner will travel to Fullerton Friday for a first-round game at Freeway League champion Sunny Hills.

Murrieta Valley’s girls team begins the Division 2 playoffs at home with a first-round game Thursday against Agoura, the third-place team from the Marmonte League. With a victory, the Nighthawks, No. 2 in the Southwestern League, will square off against Upland or Long Beach Poly in the second round on Feb. 22.

Calvary Chapel Murrieta’s girls team also earned a playoff berth. The Warriors, the No. 4 team from the Ambassador League, play a wild-card game at Paramount Tuesday at 3 PM. The winner of that game will head to Simi Valley Thursday to play Frontier League champion Grace Brethren in the first round.

CIF championship games in all divisions for boys and girls will be played on March 4 and 5.
