Murrieta Panthers Win Division Tournament

Murrieta Panthers take home AAU Division Championship Trophy in "Big Dog Bowl."

The Murrieta Panthers 9- and 10-year-olds sophomore team played with the big dogs and won.

The Panthers, a tackle football organization, entered the "Big Dog Bowl," an invitational tournament held Jan. 7-8 at San Bernardino Valley College.

The Sophomores took home the AAU Division Championship Trophy on Sunday night with a 18-0 against the Palmdale Knight Hawks, according to Panthers Board President Todd Cassidy.

The team was led offensively by standout running back Jairo Rivers, the Panthers told Patch.

"The offensive line opened up some huge holes for Jairo to run through,  they really deserve alot of credit. This was a complete team win," said Head Coach Pete Keleher.

Defensively, the team was led by lineman Teddymax Talanoa and linebackers Malosi Napoleon, Joseph Dozier, and Damian Otero, the Panthers told Patch.
