Murrieta Hockey Team Takes First in Inagaural Season

The Murrieta Spartans beat out teams from Chaparral High School, Great Oak High School and Temecula Valley High School during the first season of Temecula Valley Inline Hockey Association.

The Murrieta Spartans inline hockey team recently took first place in the inaugural season of the new high school league offered by the Temecula Valley Inline Hockey Association, a nonprofit organization.

The Spartans--which consisted of players from all three high schools in Murrieta--ousted Temecula Valley High School’s team, the Bears, in a best-of-three championship series 2-0. In game one, the score was 8-3; in game two it was 10-2.

In the debut league, ninth through 12th grades were represented on seven junior varsity and varsity teams from Chaparral, Great Oak and Temecula Valley high schools, as well as the Murrieta teams combining students from all three of its high schools.

The junior varsity championship was won by Chaparral High School’s Pumas, which beat the Murrieta Spartans’ junior varsity team 6-4 in a single championship game.

The games take place at the Roller Hockey Arena at Ronald Reagan Sports Park in Temecula.
