Murrieta Youth Football Team Wins Super Bowl Title
Written with contributions from Sylvia Ornelas:
The Murrieta Broncos Jr. All American Football Jr. Pee Wee D1A team, made up of 29 players between 8 and 13 years old, capped off an undefeated 8-0 season with a Super Bowl win.
Led by Head Coach Orlando Ornelas and staff, the Broncos entered the playoff season securing a first-round bye and beating Hemet 43-6 on Nov. 16. They drove to Twentynine Palms to face Palm Desert La Quinta and smashed them 40-24 in the semi-final playoff game.

Finally, on the Super Bowl game day title on Saturday, Nov. 30, they were able to convincingly beat another undefeated team who was seeded at No. 2, 26-6 with the opposing team only scoring within the last minute of the game on a fluke kickoff return.
It has been more than five years since a team within the JAAF league has taken home a Super Bowl Championship title. In fact, on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m. at Centennial High School, the Jr. Pee Wee Division 1 team will play against Alta Loma who has a 10-0 record thus far. They only have one regular-season loss but are predicted to take home the Super Bowl title as well.

It has been a tremendously successful season for the Jr. Pee Wee Division of MJAAF, which is part of the Southern California Jr. All American Football Conference.
On its Facebook page, MJAAF wrote:
“Congratulations to the 2013 Super Bowl Champion Murrieta Broncos! The JPWD1A Bronco team had a storybook season. Although they faced adversity along the way they always found the will to put it on the line when it counted. The team went undefeated through the entire season and the playoffs.
“During the Super Bowl they would face another undefeated team for the title. The Broncos dug deep preparing and were ready to play knowing it all came down to this one game. Four quarters of consistent pressure and play making from the high powered offense of the Murrieta Broncos matched with four quarters of stingy don't give them an inch defense including an extraordinary goal line stand kept their opponents on their heels and eventually toppled them over for a convincing 26-6 win.
“The head coach and the coaching staff did an excellent job with the team all season long and they are rewarded with the ultimate trophy. Congratulations to coach Orlando Ornelas and his team on a great season and a great Super Bowl! Thanks for making the Murrieta Broncos proud and carrying on the winning tradition.”
