UPDATE: Murrieta Little Leaguers Fall to Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach moves on to the Western Regional Tournament for a chance to play in the World Series.

UPDATE 8 p.m. July 28:

A well-played season came to an end Saturday for the Murrieta National Little League Junior All-Stars.

The Juniors were shut out by Manhattan Beach in a double-header that determined who would represent Southern California in the Western Regional Tournament.

Murrieta lost 6-2 in the first game, and 16-12 in the second game of Saturday's tournament.

The Murrieta National Little League All-Stars Junior Division was set to play today for the chance to move on to the Western Regional Tournament in Vancouver, Wash.

The 13-and 14-year-olds from Murrieta were scheduled to go up against Manhattan Beach in the Southern California Subdivision 3 Division Tournament.

Games were scheduled for 9 a.m. and noon at Jay Littleton Field in Ontario. A third game would be played if necessary.

The winner was to move on to the Western Regional Tournament, which determines who moves on to the 2012 Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Mich.

To get to today, the Junior All-Stars won the District 28 and Section 9 titles. Then on Wednesday, four first-inning runs helped Murrieta to a 9-6 win over Twin Hills at Yucaipa to win the South Southern California Subdivision 3 title.
