Golfers Tee Off in Murrieta for PGA Qualifier

Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta is one of five courses in the U.S. used for PGA Qualifying School.

Professional golfers hoping for a spot on the 2013 PGA Tour teed off Wednesday at Bear Creek Golf Club in Murrieta.

The course is one of five in the U.S. used for PGA Qualifying School, known as Q School, according to Bear Creek Golf Club General Manager Max Anderson. It is the third year Bear Creek has hosted the qualifying tournament, he said.

The second stage of Q School kicked off Wednesday with golfers competing in the first of four rounds to be held this week in Murrieta.

Golfers on the local course Wednesday included Murrieta resident Tom Pernice Jr., Gunner Wiebe, of Aurora, Colo., Michael Allen of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Jason Gore, of Valencia, Calif.
