Experience, Not Score Important to Murrieta Mesa Football

The Rams scrimmage against Riverside Poly is considered a success by the coaching staff.

It may have been called a dry run, but Murrieta Mesa's full-contact scrimmage Friday night was anything but boring.

No score was kept, but Rams Athletic Director Bill Bree still considered its game against Riverside Poly a success.

"This is a dry run, a glorified practice against another school. We don't keep score," Bree said. "It gives the coaches a chance to see how the players do on the field. They've only scrimmaged against each other."

When Murrieta Mesa opens its season at home next week against Hemet West Valley, it will be with its first senior class and a ton of anticipation.

"These players have gone from kids to young men," Bree said. "This year we have about one-half to two-thirds of a class. Next year we will have our first full class."
