Dodgers, Angels Select Vista Murrieta Grads in MLB Draft

Fresno State former Vista Murrieta High standouts, twins Taylor and Trent Garrison are drafted by hometown teams.

The Los Angeles Dodgers used their 27th round pick in the 2011 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft to select Vista Murrieta graduate Taylor Garrison, a junior pitcher from Fresno State.

Later in the draft, his twin brother, catcher Trent Garrison, was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 50th round. Collegebaseballinsider.com called Trent one of the best defensive catchers in college baseball.

Taylor, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound right-hander was 2-2 with a team-leading 1.32 earned-run average and three saves in 18 games for the Bulldogs this season.  In 34 innings, Garrison allowed just 25 hits while striking out 42 and walking just 10.

Garrison was 1-2 with a 3.70 ERA in 16 games as a sophomore and 4-3 with a 4.87 ERA in 11 appearances as a freshman.
