2 Murrieta Valley Alumni Drafted by MLB Teams

Murrieta Valley High School graduate Tyler Wade was drafted by the New York Yankees, while fellow alumnus Brandon Dixon was picked up by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The baseball careers of two Murrieta Valley High School graduates are off to a phenomenal start as they were selected by Major League Baseball teams during the annual draft held in early June.

Brandon Dixon was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 92nd pick in the third round. The 6-foot-2-inch, 215-pound Dixon is a 2010 graduate of Murrieta Valley who went on to play third base at University of Arizona.

Tyler Wade, a 2013 graduate of Murrieta Valley, was drafted by the New York Yankees in the fourth round as the 134th pick. Wade, a 6-foot-1-inch, 180-pound shortstop, had committed to San Diego State University, but according to the Yankees’ website, he signed with the MLB team on June 13.

Murrieta Mayor Rick Gibbs commended the players.

“There is real talent in our community,” Gibbs said.
