Diverting from the soccer topic today

Twelve years ago today is and will be forever burned into my brain and my heart. I remember a very hot day on Sept.11, 2001 in Murrieta with a bluer than blue sky and not a cloud in sight. My girls were 7,5,3, and 2 and we woke up on 9/11/01 and it was the first morning I did not turn on the news before Katie and Brittany went to school, instead I let them watch cartoons before school. I took the two older girls to elementary school and walked them to their classes, where I saw adults in tears and it had me curious as to why. I then returned home to turn on the news while getting my 2 and 3 yr old ready for the day and I just stopped and tears ran down my face and for most of the day. I watched the news non-stop that day and when my 7 and 5 yr old got home from school Guy and I tried to explain to the older girls what happened in terms they would understand and the news was on and we had turn off the TV in the living room, because every time they would replay the planes hitting the twin towers , my 5 yr old( Brittany) would ask…”Mommy is another plane hitting the building?” and it upset her  and our 7 yr old( Katie) that Guy and I only watched the news for the next few days in our bedroom. Today that 5 yr old who is now 17 yrs old  wore a I LOVE NY shirt to school . My 2 and 3 yr olds who are now 14 and 15 do not have much recollection of anything from 12 years ago, so everything about 9/11,they are learning is  in history books and from what we tell them. It is a day that will never be out of our minds and hearts and I will make sure my children always remember those that lost their lives that day. God Bless America!!
