Boys Soccer: Nighthawks, Broncos Tie

Murrieta Valley and Vista Murrieta battled to a tie Friday in Southwestern League play.

The Broncos and Nighthawks varsity boys soccer teams battled to a 1-1 tie when they met on the field Friday.

The stalemate leaves fourth-place Vista Murrieta with a 3-3-2 record. Murrieta Valley is now 4-3-1 in league and is in third place.

Scoreless in the first half, the Broncos got on the board with a Christian Valadez goal. Danny Merk was credited with the assist. Defensively, goalkeeper Jason Bertolino had 10 saves.

The Nighthawk goal was scored by Uhm Austin, and Alex Montion contributed 8 saves.

Vista Murrieta will celebrate Senior Night on Wednesday when it hosts the Rams. The Nighthawks will also be at home and are looking to beat visiting Chaparral. The Pumas are currently one game ahead in league standings heading into Tuesday.
