Wine Making, Aviation Among Community Ed Classes Offered

Murrieta Valley Adult School and Community Education continues to add options for those seeking to learn or sharpen skills.

Introductions to wine making, aviation and juggling are just some of the courses available this winter and spring through Murrieta Valley Adult School and Community Education.

Registration begins Monday for the program, which is entering its second session of offering a broader range of community fee-based classes for children through adults at more sites.

Tom Petrich, coordinator for Murrieta Valley Adult School and Community Education, has been busy recruiting instructors in an effort to increase the offerings.

"We have a lot of new classes," Petrich said. "We have a lot of fun, different things we are offering."

Prices for fee-based classes range from $35 to $85 for four- to eight-week sessions.

For instance, Fast Math for first- through eighth-graders is $35. It will be held beginning Feb. 7 at Monte Vista Elementary. Ceramics is $80 for eight classes, and will be offered to sixth- through 12th-graders beginning Feb. 27 at Murrieta Valley High School.

Introduction to Wine Making is $60 for six classes, to be held starting Feb. 1 at Hart Winery in Temecula Valley.

Introduction to General Aviation is $60 for six classes starting Feb. 7 at Murrieta Valley Adult School.

Other options include a Foundations of Baseball class that will be taught at Spring Training Baseball Academy, or brush up on your cooking or photography.

In addition, Murrieta Valley Adult School and Community Education has partnered with Boston Reed College to begin offering vocational education programs in the health field. An informational meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26 for those interested in becoming a clinical medical assistant, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy technician, electronic health records technologist or a billing and coding specialist.

Free adult school education such as English as a Second Language, GED and high school diploma programs start Monday, and many fee-based community education classes begin Feb. 1. To browse the course selection, start times and dates, click here.

Walk-in registration with payment is taken from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A $10 discount is given when registration for community classes is completed two weeks prior to the class start date.

Childcare is available onsite at Murrieta Valley Adult School for $1 per child per day. Children must be 3 years old and potty-trained.
