He stood in front of his entire school recently to explain why he wanted to send Rice Krispie Treats to Afghanistan: "We are sending a little bit of love from home."

Each student and teacher was then given a Sharpie to write a positive message on the packaging. Examples were: "Oorah," "Thank You," "Be Safe," "God Bless America," "You Rock" and "Thinking of you."

Marcus' big brother attended Cole Canyon when it first opened its doors. He was there for third through fifth grades. Josh Havens, now 20 years old, is part of the Marine Corps 2nd Anglico, based at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, but deployed to Afghanistan. He is a radio operator.

KEY TO AWESOMENESS: Cole Canyon Elementary has a program called Character Counts and this falls in line with a couple of the pillars, caring and citizenship, said Dawn Havens, Marcus' mother.

The Havens family has already sent 200 boxes of donated Girl Scout Cookies to troops.
