Vista Murrieta Third-Time Band Champs

Competing among 26 high school bands from California and Nevada, Vista Murrieta claims the MBOS Championship title for the third year in a row.

Vista Murrieta High School Golden Alliance Marching Band and Color Guard on Saturday won the Marching Band Open Series Championships, marking the third consecutive year the Golden Alliance has taken home the title.

Twenty-six groups from across California and Nevada converged on Graber Stadium Saturday at Chaffey High School in Ontario for preliminary compeition in the MBOS Championships.

The 15 highest-scoring bands moved on to Championship Finals that evening.

Vista Murrieta took home gold with the top score of 89.95. Chino Hills High School earned silver with a score of 88.60, and William S. Hart High School of Santa Clarita scored 87.40 for bronze.

Temecula's Great Oak High School's Spirit of Great Oak Band & Guard came in sixth place, and Murrieta Mesa High School's Marching Emerald Regiment placed eleventh.

Leading the Vista Murrieta Golden Alliance to victory were directors Don Wade and Brent Levine, along with drum majors Cristian Ovies, Chad Shini, Megan McDonald and Marvince Benjamin.
