Vista Murrieta Plans Parade of Champions

The community can help celebrate Vista Murrieta Football's CIF championship win.

A Parade of Champions is scheduled for 3 p.m. Jan. 15. The parade will start at the corner of Whitewood and Clinton Keith roads, then proceed along Clinton Keith in front of the school to Creighton. The parade will be followed by a rally in Bronco Stadium.

The event is an opportunity to celebrate and thank the students, parents, school staff and community members who supported Bronco Football throughout season, said Coach Coley Candaele, in a news release.

“There are many people who are excited about this momentous event, and
deservedly so. A championship takes more than a team; it takes a community,” Candaele said.

Along with the historic championship win, several honors have poured in for Candaele and junior linebacker Su'a Cravens.

Cravens has been named a finalist for Cal-Hi Sports state player of the year, according to the news release. The  has also been named HSGameTime Player of the Year, LA Times Player of the Year and MaxPreps' 2011 U.S. Air Force All-American first-team defense.

Candaele was named the 2011 HSGameTime Football Coach of the Year and LA Times Coach of the Year for leading Vista Murrieta to its first CIF football title in the school’s nine-year history.

The Jan. 15 parade will feature the Bronco football team and coaches, Vista Murrieta’s Golden Alliance Marching Band JROTC, Color Guard, Cheer Squad and members of the Bronco Bleacher Creatures (BBC).

According to District Spokesperson Karen Parris, Murrieta Mayor Doug McAllister will speak at the rally along with Superintendent Stan Scheer, Candaele and 2007 Vista Murrieta Alumni Justin Taplin-Ross, who just signed a contract to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

The rally will also include performances by the Golden Alliance Band and Cheer Squad, Parris said.
