Vista Murrieta, Calvary Murrieta Baseball Recognized With All-CIF Players

Three players from Murrieta are selected to the All-CIF teams by coaches in the CIF Southern Section.

The CIF has recognized the caliber of baseball in Murrieta by selecting pitchers Jeff Moberg and Tyler Russell to the Division 1 All-CIF teams this week.

Additionally, Jason Malana of was placed on the first team in Division 6.

The teams were selected by the CIF coaches throughout the Southern Section.

Moberg, a junior pitcher/infielder, was a first-team selection for the Broncos (22-6) which captured the Southwestern League title. They lost in the second round of the CIF Division 1 playoffs to finalist Long Beach Wilson.

Moberg hit .483 for the Broncos with 21 RBI and 31 runs scored. As a pitcher, he was 4-6 with a 3.23 earned-run average.

Russell, a sophomore pitcher, made the second team despite stellar numbers. He was 9-1 with 1.01 ERA and nearly missed a no-hitter in the first round of the CIF playoffs.
