Vista Murrieta Band Defends Championship Title

Vista Murrieta High School Golden Alliance Marching Band and Color Guard earns the top spot at Marching Band Open Series Championships for the second year in a row.

Vista Murrieta’s own Golden Alliance Marching Band successfully defended the title of MBOS (Marching Band Open Series) Champions, winning the championships for the second year in a row.

The championship tournament was held Nov. 12 at Chino Hills High School and featured 22 marching bands from California and Nevada. Despite the rain, the contest drew record crowds to watch some very well-established bands as well as some relative newcomers display their pageantry finest.

The competition began at 9 a.m. under threatening gray skies. Each participant took to the field and played their hearts out, but only 15 were chosen to compete in the evening’s finals competition including Vista Murrieta--who won first place in its division and caption award for General Effect in preliminaries--Great Oak, Temecula Valley and Murrieta Mesa high schools.
