Top-Ranked Murrieta Valley Choir to Perform Shows This Week

There are three nights to choose from. The school's choir program has been solidified as one of the top in the country.

The Murrieta Valley High School choirs will present their annual Variety Show this week on  Tuesday through Thursday.

"We invite you to enjoy amazing performances ranging in diversity from productions that include 'Flower Drum Song' to 'Lady and the Tramp,' to 'Phantom of the Opera' performed by the students of MVHS," said Lorie Abeles of the Murrieta Valley High School Choir Boosters.

"Under the guidance of our choir director, Jaclyn Johnson, the student choirs and solo performances are truly delights for all the senses," Abeles said.

In March, the Murrieta Valley High School Chamber Singers was selected to perform at Chicago's Symphony Hall for 5,000 choir directors from around the world at the National American Choral Director’s Association Convention in Chicago, Ill. 

Being selected to perform at the convention was a three-year process against more than 600 other high school applicants and solidified the Murrieta Valley High School choir program as one of the top programs in the country.

Tuesday at 5 p.m. there will be a special “Pre-Show” that will include solo performances from several students. The box office opens at 4:30 for the Tuesday Pre-Show. Also for Tuesday’s performance, all seniors citizens 65 and over and middle school students with current school ID will be admitted free.

Wednesday and Thursday the box office will open at 6:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 7 p.m. Abeles recommends arriving early to ensure a good seat.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $6 for senior citizens, Military, children and students with ASB card. There will be a snack bar for those with a sweet tooth, as well as a 50-50 drawing. Pie raffle tickets for sale.

The concert will be at the Performing Arts Center, 42200 Nighthawk Way in Murrieta.
