"The Dorothy McElhinney Middle School Library was opened a few years ago with a very limited number of school library books and the $500 donation will help the school acquire some needed educational books for the students," said Dennis McCarbery, spokesperson for the Rotary Club of Murrieta, in a news release.

The McElhinney school Youthact Club is sponsored and supervised by the Rotary Club of Murrieta, McCarbery said. The term "Youthact" is derived from "youth" for elementary and middle school age students and "act" for action, he said.

"The Youthact clubs must annually develop and carry out projects of service to its school, community and in the world," he said.

Rotary is a nonprofit organization of professionals and leaders in the local community who volunteer to improve the community and world. The Murrieta club meets at noon every Monday, except national holidays, at 40651 Murrieta Hot Springs Road, between Interstates 15 and 215.

"If you have an interest in serving your community, please contact us through our website at Murrietarotarty.org," said President Jeannette Hartmann. "Or call me at 951-506-3181."
