The Murrieta Valley High boys soccer team opens the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 playoffs today hosting Palm Desert in a wild-card match at 3:00pm.
The Nighthawks (10-9-4 overall, 5-3-2) took third place in the Southwestern League, but it wasn’t strong enough to help them escape a play-in game.
The Palm Desert Aztecs (10-9-2) make the road trip after sneaking into the playoffs as an at-large team from the highly competitive Desert Valley League.
