Murrieta Students Sing at Chicago's Symphony Hall

The invitation solidified the Murrieta Valley High School choir program as one of the top programs in the country.

The Murrieta Valley High School Chamber Singers, under the direction of Jaclyn Johnson, performed on March 10 for more than 5,000 choir directors from around the world at the National American Choral Director’s Association Convention in Chicago, Ill.

Being selected to perform at the convention was a three-year process against more than 600 other high school applicants and solidified the Murrieta Valley High School choir program as one of the top programs in the country, according to Murrieta Valley High School Choir Director Jaclyn Johnson.

The Chamber Singers performed at two world-renowned venues, the Roosevelt University Auditorium and Orchestra Hall, home of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

"Both performances were met with standing ovations and made the year of extreme dedication worth every second," Johnson said.

Johnson said the singers raised more than $20,000 toward their trip to ensure that every member was able to attend and spent more than 13 hours a week rehearsing their music.
