Murrieta Student Artists Bring Home Awards
The artwork will be on display at the Riverside Art Museum through Saturday.
Murrieta Valley and Vista Murrieta students took four out of nine first place awards at the 49th Annual Riverside Art Show, and student artists from Murrieta Valley Unified School District collectively received multiple awards, said district spokesperson Karen Parris.
The winners were announced on April 14 at an Awards Ceremony at the Riverside Art Museum. Students received the following awards:
Watercolor/Tempura

First place: Lindi Ingram, a junior at Murrieta Valley High School
Acrylic/Oil

First place: Mengyuan Zhuang, a senior at Murrieta Valley High School
Drawing
First place: Colin Moyer, a senior at Vista Murrieta High School
Drawing in Color
Second place: Sojin Kim, a senior at Vista Murrieta High School
Graphics
First place: Pearce Lawrence, a senior at Vista Murrieta High School
Second place: Alyxx Duggins, a senior at Vista Murrieta High School
Third place: Froilan Tam, a freshman at Vista Murrieta High School
Honorable Mention: Rachel Held, a sophomore at Vista Murrieta High School

Honorable Mention: Taylor Stahnke, a junior at Creekside High School

Second place: Jose Velazquez, a senior at Murrieta Valley High School
Third place: James Lodge, a senior at Murrieta Valley High School

Sponsorship Awards
The Press-Enterprise Sponsorship Award: Mike Flaherty, a senior at Vista Murrieta High School
Walgreens Sponsorship Award: Daniel Aleman, a junior at Murrieta Valley High School.
There were 236 entries from high school students across Riverside County, including 55 entries from Vista Murrieta, Murrieta Valley, Murrieta Mesa and Creekside high schools, Parris said in a news release. Students from Vista Murrieta and Murrieta Valley high schools submitted the most entries in the show.
The Art Show will be on display between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. through April 23 at the Riverside Art Museum, 3425 Mission Inn Ave. in Riverside.
