Vista Murrieta opens season against Thunder Ridge High from

Coach Joe Johnson and his Grizzlies from Thunder Ridge High School of Highlands Ranch, Colo. open the Bronco football season at Vista Murrieta tonight.

The Grizzlies are ranked No. 12 in the state of Colorado and are looking to show Vista Murrieta how football is played in the Rocky Mountain state.

The Grizzlies are a run-oriented offense. They averaged 220 yards on the ground last year and 58 yards in the air. They have a very good offensive line lead by Josh Aines and Sam Jones. Keep an eye on fullback Jake Hand, wide receiver Mark Hooper, running back Steve Ray and quarterback Brody Wesmoreland on offense.

Defensive standouts for the Grizzlies are defensive end John Adams, outside linebacker John Wood, and Jason Beerline.

They will be looking to stop Coach Coley Candaele’s explosive offense.

Quarterback Nick Stevens running out of a read-option offense has Kishawn Holmes, Randy Beggs, Michael Crawford and Jamie Nunley to throw to Su’a Cravens is a threat to run or the ball out of the backfield.

With five starters returning on defense, the Broncos are looking tougher than last season. All-League linebacker Bryce Smith, defensive back Cravens, cornerback Treshon Brougton and defensive end Greg Hoyd are key Broncos to watch as Vista Murrieta looks to extend its 14-game winning streak on the field.
