GIRLS VOLLEYBALL: Nighthawks Defeat Rams in League Opener

Murrieta Mesa and MVHS squared off Thursday in league play.

The Rams came across town to play rival Murrieta Valley Thursday. The Nighthawks proved to be too much for Mesa, and took the contest by sweeping the Rams in three straight games.

The Nighthawks took the first game 25-13, and never relented. Mesa dropped the next two games 25-20, 25-17.

Nighthawks Katelyn Nielsen, Megan Dempsey and Shaye Faherty led the attack for Murrieta Valley. This was their first league win and the Hawks are 1-0. The Citrus Valley Blackhawks will be in town for a non-league tournament starting at 8 a.m. Saturday.
