Girls Basketball: Vista Murrieta Looks to Close out Undefeated Season

The Broncos are one win away from an undefeated season and taking the Southwestern League title from defending Murrieta Valley.

The Bronco girls varsity basketball team is now one victory away from a perfect Southwestern League schedule.

Freshman Brittney Reed had a career high 17 rebounds, nine points, three steals, three assists, and one blocked shot to lead the Broncos over Murrieta Mesa Tuesday night. The game brought Vista Murrieta to a 9-0 league record, putting the girls in firm command of first place.

Tuesday's game was over shortly after it began as the Rams fell behind 16-4 in the first period. The Broncos' fast paced, physical game overwhelmed the Rams, who were down 33-13 at the half.

Serafina Maulupe led the Bronco offensive attack with 19 points. Leitasi Cravens added 10, Jaelyn Brown nine, Yuendie Guridi four, Tatiana Navarro three and Alexis Rivas two points.

The game ended with a 56-39 Bronco victory. The Broncos will be looking to end this perfect season Thursday against third place Chaparral at home.

The Rams will host Great Oak.

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks slipped past Chaparral 53-47 and will be at home against Temecula Valley’s Golden Bears.

Come out and support your team as the Southwestern League schedule comes to an end and the CIF Southern Section play-offs begin.
