Girls Basketball: Broncos, Nighthawks Hosting CIF Semifinal Playoffs Tuesday

Murrieta Valley and Vista Murrieta are both hosting playoff games Tuesday night.

Vista Murrieta varsity girls basketball will host Canyon Springs High School from Moreno Valley Tuesday in a CIF Southern Section 1A semifinal playoff game, while Murrieta Valley be on its home court against Redondo Union in Division 2A semifinals.

The Broncos have won 14 games in a row are 25-5 overall. They are the 2013 Southwestern League Champions.

The Cougars are 18-9 and are coming off a big 80-51 quarterfinal victory over Buena. They are led by junior guard Cheyenne Greenhouse, Charnea Johnson Chapman and Ashleigh Sparks.

Coach Chris Jones’ Broncos are a tough, physical team consisting of Captain Seafina Maulupe, Leitasi Cravens, Yuendie Guridie, Brittney Reed and Jaelyn Brown.

This is an aggressive, hustling group of girls who simply “refuse to loose.”

Murrieta Valley is playing incredible basketball as it heads into the Division 2A semis. The team has come together as a unit and has been intimidating opposing teams throughout the playoffs. The Nighthawk are 24-5 overall.

The Sea Hawks are 19-11 and come into Tuesday’s game having beaten third seeded Patriot High 55-38 Saturday. Inara Nyingifa, Taylor Smith and Micaela Enriquezre Redondo Union are leading scorers.

Murrieta Valley’s starting lineup consists of seniors Deshea Wilkes, Karen Wolf, Brynn Dahmer, Aliah Marshall and sophomore Ariana Hernandez. Coach Scott Richards’ team is well balanced offensively and difficult to score on.

Both games start at 7 p.m.
