Straight Talk

Mrs. Petty will be speaking to 8th grade middle school students about what her family has gone thru with their son Michael Petty who's  been  incarcerated in the California Prison System for the past 4 yrs 9mnths. Serving time for Armed Robery & Burglary he also has been convicted of being a gang member ( Murrieta Fight Club) he plead guilty to a deal of 19 yrs 4mnths out of confusion and stress of being told by a Judge (Judith Clark) if he didn't work with the Riverside System he would serve the maximum sentence available. Although the family believes Michael deserves to spend time behind bar for his crimes  he just doesn't deserve to be there so long.

I talk to the students about our journey, what led Michael to do what he did and where it led him. It's one mothers story with a written letter that Is shared of Michaels pain and struggles.

"I do this to show that we all make choices everyday it's a matter of what and how you react to those choices. If we are able to help one family one student it is worth my time to talk to students".
