The Interact Club from Murrieta Mesa High School is seeking the public's assistance in gathering gently-used or new prom dresses.
Dresses will be collected through March 30 as part of the club's first annual "Cinderella For a Day." Students from all high schools in Murrieta can come pick a dress. If they decide to use it they may bring another dress in return, said Reyna Reyna, who is helping organize the drive.
So far 125 dresses have been collected in a variety of sizes, from 0 to 2X, she said.
But there's more.
"Cinderella For a Day" is being made possible with the help of , , , and Paul Mitchell Cosmetology school in Temecula.
VIP Florist has donated six corsages and boutonnieres for raffle; Paul Mitchell will do the girls hair and make up for $40; and Capri cleaners will clean the dresses for $1.75, Reyna said.
"Please come join us by donating your unwanted formal dresses and help a young lady have the prom of her life," Reyna said.
Donations are being accepted at two locations: , 24801 Monroe Ave., and Azusa Pacific University Murrieta Regional Center, 39573 Los Alamos Road.
When dropping off dresses, inform the front desk it is for “Cinderella for the Day” program.
The Murrieta Mesa High School Interact Club is affiliated with the Rotary Club of Murrieta.
